It's hard to believe but AquaPulse and Eagle Stadium are set to welcome our two-millionth visitor this month! The region has previously been recognised as having among the highest rates of obesity in Australia, but residents are fighting back by saying “NO” to obesity in the last 12 months through their attendances at the facilities. With AquaPulse recently celebrating its first birthday and Stage 2 of Eagle Stadium now completed, the residents of Wyndham have shown their support of the new facilities and the services they offer.
The two-millionth visitor milestone is an unexpected achievement just a year after opening and represents “2 million healthy decisions” by the residents of Wyndham who are living the WynActive vision of “building healthier lives through aquatics and recreation”.
The idea of two million healthy decisions resonates with Bruce Mackay, CEO of Western Leisure Services, who stated:
“In this age of obesity and widespread health issues relating to sedentary lifestyles, we are proud to join with Wyndham City Council in helping to fight obesity. “
Cr Peter Maynard, Wyndham City Council’s Portfolio Holder for Sport, Leisure and Open Space adds:
“The fact that 2 million people have visited AquaPulse and Eagle Stadium in a little over 12 months is testament to just how excellent these two facilities are. Council is proud that we have been able to provide these landmark facilities for the people of Wyndham.”
