WynActive's Swim School Program

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Swim Teachers will regularly assess students’ skills during lessons. Once a student consistently demonstrates the required skills to progress, the Swim Teacher will advise you that they are ready to move to the next level. When this happens, please see a Swim School Leader—either in the office or on pool deck with the next level card that is provided by your Swim Teacher to arrange a class change./h6>
The WynSwim Swim & Survive program runs concurrently with the Victorian public-school terms and runs water-safety classes for one week of the holidays.
Lessons for the 2025 calendar year will occur:
  • Term 1: 20th January – 13th April
  • Term 2: 21th April – 6th July
  • Term 3: 14th July – 21st September
  • Term 4: 29th September – 14th December
From 1 July 2025, WynSwim operates on a per-lesson payment model, which means families are only charged for lessons during weeks when classes are scheduled and delivered. This eliminates the confusion that previously existed under the old model where fees were spread evenly across the year.
Lessons typically run during the first week of school holidays in Terms 1, 2, 3, and 4.
No lessons run in the second week of the school holidays, and you are not charged for that week under the new model.
Access to AquaPulse and Werribee Outdoor Pool continues throughout the year for active members, regardless of whether lessons are running that week.
Over the Christmas/New Year period, no charges are applied. Families are not required to submit freeze requests during this time if planning to return in Term 1 of the following year.
WynTensive is a 5-day intensive program that gives children from 3 years old the opportunity to access swimming lessons. With lessons running over consecutive days, this improves the understanding of the skills they are learning.
If a student misses four consecutive lessons without notifying us, their enrolment may be automatically cancelled, with notice in line with our terms and conditions.
If two consecutive direct debit payments fail, your membership may be cancelled, with notice. You can re-enrol once the outstanding balance is cleared, and a new direct debit agreement is set up.
  • Between 1 July to 31 December 2025: 4 lessons per student
  • From 1 January 2026: 8 lessons per student, per calendar year
All freeze requests must be supported by a valid medical certificate.
Yes. Religious observances such as Eid or Ramadan can be used as a reason for a freeze without a medical certificate, but it still counts toward your freeze entitlement.
Suspensions (freezes) are only available when valid documentation is provided and within your annual freeze allowance.
    • You can request a freeze:
    • In person at AquaPulse, or
Via email: wynswim@wynactive.com.au.
Include:
A valid medical certificate for the enrolled student, the student’s full name, and the requested freeze dates.
Freezes cannot be backdated more than 30 days and will not be approved once your freeze entitlement is exceeded, unless in exceptional circumstances approved by management.
We do not offer make up lessons. If a student misses a lesson due to medical reasons, a credit can be applied to your WynSwim Membership account if a medical certificate is supplied.
We always try to ensure that WynSwim Students continue with the same Swim Teacher every week. However, there may be situations or occasions where it is necessary for a different teacher to take the class. Please note that your lane allocation won’t change, you will be in the same lane number every week unless you are advised by WynSwim that your lane number has changed.

Once you have enrolled in the Swim & Survive program at AquaPulse, you will receive an access band for your child if they are under the age of 10:
  • Pink if they are under the age of 5
  • Yellow if they are between 5 years and 10 years of age.
  • The responsible Parent/Guardian will receive a Green card.
Once you arrive for your swim lesson or an aquatic visit to AquaPulse or Werribee Outdoor Pool, you will need to swipe the Student access band first. Once this is complete and the green light flashes, you can then swipe the Green Responsible Parent/Guardian Card, and both gain entry.
Please note: The Green Responsible Parent/Guardian Card will not provide access to the facilities unless the Student Access band has been scanned directly beforehand. It is important to scan the Student Access card to record attendance at your lesson. Only one responsible adult may gain entry to the facility with the Green Responsible Parent/Guardian Card. All additional guests must pay an aquatic casual entry or spectator fee.
Students in the Swim & Survive Infants program must wear a swim nappy to all classes and must always be accompanied by a responsible adult. Disposable swim nappies can be purchased at AquaPulse reception or the WynSwim Office.
The Royal Life Saving Society of Australia (RLSSA) and Life Saving Victoria (LSV) assisted in the development of the Victorian Water Safety Certificate (VWSC). The VWSC is equivalent to successful completion of Level 6 within the Swim & Survive program.
